Lynah from the Atypic Traveller tailored to me a 17 days’ Madagascar tour that exceeded all my expectations. She arranged a private driver with a 4 x 4 car, private guides in all national parks that I visited focusing on mammals and birds. Lynah even arranged extra visits out of the original program. My initial contact with Lynah was prompt and courteous as were all communications. I took a 5 night trip (which admittedly was short) but it was what I could spare. Flew to TNR from Nairobi, Kenya. Was met by my excellent driver/chief tour guide Hage at the airport. The arrival at immigration was slightly chaotic. The 'sante' representative asked if she could fill out my embarkation paperwork for a 'gift'. Otherwise, I just took things as they came. I did the Antananarivo tour and we drove to Andasibe. What was really ince about the tour and Mada is local guides take over from the entrance to the rainforest, tour of the palace and the Lemur Island private reserve. I am sad to say the best viewing of lemurs (bamboo, ndiri, brown) was in the reserve. The primary (virgin) rainforest had lemurs but few and far between.

Deforestation due to poverty is a major problem in this country. The tour operators did their best. The roads, need I say went from great to BAD....enough said about the reasons for it. This was the rainy season, so if you go December to March, you WILL get wet or soaked. Just go with the flow but protect your camera/cell phone/wallet etc. Take an umbrella/poncho as well.

Overall, I would recommend this travel agency highly.
